Fences, gates and automation
Fences and gates from stroydom.ge are built in Tbilisi and across Georgia as a standalone order or as part of a house or site project. A profiled sheet fence with foundations, posts and infill costs 180–320 ₾ per linear metre. Steel picket or ironwork with foundations and paint is 320–700 ₾ per linear metre. A sliding gate for a 3.5–4 m opening, with frame, track and rollers, costs 2,200–5,000 ₾ excluding automation. A swing gate for a 3–4 m opening is 1,500–3,500 ₾. An operator with photocells, remotes and connection adds 1,200–3,000 ₾. The estimate is fixed after the survey.
We build site perimeters in Tbilisi and across Georgia: concrete foundations and posts sized for wind and terrain, infill in profiled sheet, steel picket, ironwork, timber or concrete block, sliding and swing gates with automation, wicket gates with intercom and electric lock, plus lighting and cameras at the entrance.
Available as a separate order from 1,000 GEL
We take this work as a standalone order from 1,000 GEL, or as part of a turnkey house project. Inside a house project one contractor answers for the whole chain of work: one estimate and one warranty.
About the work
How does stroydom.ge deliver fences, gates and automation?
The site perimeter: foundation, infill, gates with automation.
What is included in fences, gates and automation?
Setting out and foundations
Boundaries set out, post spacing, concrete or piled foundations allowing for the slope.
Posts and infill
Posts, rails and infill installed with the level differences across the plot taken up in steps.
Gates
Sliding gates on a track and rollers, or swing gates on adjustable hinges, with a reinforced frame.
Automation
Operator, photocells, warning light, remotes and phone access, manual release.
Wicket gate and entry
Electric lock, entry panel, audio or video intercom, exit button.
What is fences, gates and automation and why is it needed?
A fence is the first thing a visitor sees and the first thing a buyer judges, yet its engineering is buried: everything rests on the foundations and on the wind load calculation. On Tbilisi slopes there is also the level difference, which forces the infill to step down and the entrance apron to be planned in advance. We build perimeters as structures: boundaries and foundations first, then the infill, and only then automation and electrics.
What stages does fences, gates and automation consist of?
Each stage runs only after the previous one is accepted — so hidden works are never "closed" before inspection, and a mistake never has to be hunted for through screed and plaster.
- 1
Boundaries and survey
Cadastral boundaries, perimeter length, slopes, entrance and wicket gate positions.
- 2
Choice of construction
Infill type, height, post spacing, stepping down the slope, gate type.
- 3
Foundations
Augered holes or trench, reinforcement, concreting of posts and the operator base.
- 4
Frame and infill
Posts, rails and infill installed, painted or treated against corrosion.
- 5
Gates and wicket
Frame, track and rollers installed, travel adjusted, electric lock on the wicket gate.
- 6
Automation and handover
Operator, photocells, remotes, reversal tested, handover and manual release explained.
How does stroydom.ge control quality on site?
How we work on site — materials, equipment, tolerances, documentation and acceptance of hidden works.
Boundaries before concrete
Points are set out from the cadastre before pouring: moving a finished fence costs many times more than setting out.
Cable in ducting
Power and low-voltage to the gate always run in a duct, so the paving never has to be lifted.
Reversal proven
Photocells and anti-crush protection are tested against a real obstacle, not assumed to work.
Corrosion protection
Every weld is cleaned back and coated: in Tbilisi damp it is the welds that rust first.
What should be accounted for in Tbilisi and Georgia?
What we account for here: seismic intensity 8 (MSK-64), hot summers and damp winters, steep terrain, older stock with timber floors and worn city networks.
Sloping plots
On a slope the infill steps down, and sliding gates need a level apron. That drives the choice of type.
Wind in the suburbs
On exposed plots in Kojori and Tskneti solid infill raises the wind load, so post spacing is reduced.
Narrow streets
In older districts swing leaves can block the carriageway, so in practice only sliding gates work.
Power cuts
An operator without backup turns the gate into a manual one: we allow for a battery or manual release.
How much does it cost and how long does it take?
Indicative price ranges in lari (₾) for standard conditions. The final estimate is fixed after measurements and specification approval.
| Item | What is included and the price |
|---|---|
| Guide prices (Tbilisi, before survey) | The figures below are a guide. The final estimate depends on terrain, infill type and machine access. |
| Profiled sheet fence | With foundations, posts and infill: 180–320 ₾ per linear metre. |
| Steel picket or ironwork | With foundations and paint finish: 320–700 ₾ per linear metre. |
| Sliding gate | 3.5–4 m opening with frame, track and rollers: 2,200–5,000 ₾ excluding automation. |
| Swing gate | 3–4 m opening with heavy-duty hinges: 1,500–3,500 ₾ excluding automation. |
| Automation | Operator, photocells, remotes and connection: 1,200–3,000 ₾ by gate type. |
| How we price | Fencing by the linear metre, gates and wicket as separate items, automation and low-voltage on their own line. |

Frequently asked questions — Fences, gates and automation
Sliding or swing gates?
Sliding gates suit sites with little room in front of the entrance or with a slope: the leaf does not swing into the street or foul on snow and puddles. They do need a level run alongside about one and a half times the opening, and a solid base for the track, which on a slope costs noticeably more. Swing gates are simpler and cheaper, need room to open inward and work well on a level entrance. On the narrow streets of Tbilisi sliding usually wins.
Why does a fence go crooked within a year?
The foundations. Posts concreted without regard for frost depth, soil type and the wind area of the infill lean within the first season, especially on a slope where the ground creeps. Solid infill acts as a sail: on exposed plots in Kojori and Tskneti the wind load on a post exceeds the weight of the structure itself. So post spacing and foundation depth are calculated, not copied from a video.
Is automation necessary if the gates open by hand?
Not necessary, but it is the most common later addition and the most awkward one: an operator needs power and control cable at the gate, and running them under finished paving means breaking it up. So even when automation is not installed straight away, we lay the duct and cable to the gate. Adding the operator later then takes a day.
Do fences need agreement with neighbours or the city?
A fence on the boundary concerns the neighbours; its height and any encroachment beyond the building line concern the city. Disputes almost always start where posts went in "roughly on the boundary" without the points being set out. We ask for the cadastral data and set the boundary out before any concrete is poured.
